Chalet La Source, your "Eco-Home"

Eco Home IconAmong the criteria of the Esprit National brand, efforts to limit carbon impact are of great importance. Environmental responsibility is an integral part of Chalet La Source's offering.
You will appreciate this all the more because, by limiting energy consumption, it also helps guarantee you the most competitive rates possible!

 1) Forget the car, adopt the bicycle!

Car icon in parking lotFeel free to leave your car in the parking lot for the duration of your stay. The village is just a short walk away, and it will save you the hassle of finding parking there.

Electric Bike IconThanks to our partnership with Roc & Trail, located just steps from the Chalet, you can rent electric bikes at great rates. A valuable tool for getting around Cauterets quickly, and far beyond: the Voie Verte, La Raillère, and even the Pont d'Espagne are all within easy reach!

2) Limit your water and electricity consumption

Eco-friendly gestures iconChalet La Source has been renovated with high-quality insulation and economical heating methods: pellet stove and heat pump.

To best manage this resource, certain practices will be helpful:

  • Air conditioning or heating without excess
  • If you are away, turn down the heating (the heat pump will warm the room in 10 minutes) and turn off the lights
  • Do not run several high-consumption appliances (oven, tumble dryer, dishwasher, hair dryer) at the same time. Exceeding the permitted power will cause a power outage for the entire chalet.
  • Avoid long showers (average consumption of a shower: 15 liters/minute) and no more than one bath per day (a bath consumes 120 to 200 liters of water, or 3 to 4 showers).

3) Reduce your waste

Reducing Waste IconA compost bin for plant waste is available behind the car park, at the top of the few stone steps next to the bear.

Refillable shower gel dispensers are installed in each bathroom (fillings available upon request). Keep your shower gels in your suitcase; you won't need them: fewer containers mean less plastic in the bin!

4) An eco-friendly laundry service

Icone Green LaundryYou won't need to do anything special here, but this service is important to highlight because laundry contributes significantly to the environmental impact of tourism. It therefore deserves special attention.

In our vacation rentals, linens are provided for the entire duration of your stay. This is a key difference compared to hotels, where linens are changed upon request. The environmental impact of laundry services is therefore reduced "at the source"!

Next, Chalet La Source works with a professional laundry service . Subject to the latest standards, it uses the aqua-cleaning process , a process that is very economical in water and energy, and without solvents or emissions of polluting products.

Where a traditional washing machine requires 9 to 12 liters of water per kilogram of laundry, using chemical detergents and temperatures above 30°C, wet cleaning uses 30% less water, with biodegradable products and much lower temperatures (around 25°C). Dry cleaning, using solvents, is also a significant consumer of water and energy: while it doesn't use water to treat the laundry itself, it does use water to cool and distill the solvents, ultimately consuming far more than wet cleaning.

And when you process more than a ton of laundry per year like at Chalet La Source, it ends up making a big difference!
