March 15, 2026: The Coumes du Pic du Midi, Ski Touring race

Les Coumes du Pic du Midi, this is the end of season meeting, for hiking ski fans in Hautes Pyrénées.

A race made to satisfy both amateurs and experienced competitors, in the sumptuous decor of high Bigorre peaks.

Organized each year by the Tarbes Nature Club Friendship , this race takes place on the Taoulet massif , an intermediate station of the cable car leading to the Pic du Midi.
Each edition presents a different route, made of carefully traced climbs and large descents on virgin snow.

Breaking with the somewhat elitist image of hiking skiing, the primary objectives of this race are accessibility, pleasure and conviviality, in complete safety.

So no time barrier and positive elevations less than 1000 m. If there are many technical passages - edges and corridors - which give even more spice to the race,
everyone must be able to complete the route.

And at the end, if the 1st of each category receive a trophy, exit the podium: all the lots are in draw! … Finally, a solid mountain snack comes to finish this event in the most beautiful way.

The 2026 edition, on Sunday, March 15, 2026, strikes a good balance between the alternating climbs and descents:

The route starts 250m below the summit of Taoulet. Participants are transported there by cable car (ascent included in registration)
The descent is neutralized on skis all the way back to the starting area: so there's as much climbing as descending!
First ascent: on skis in the Coume Lounque, passing through kicker-land and up to a small summit.
First descent: on skis, in the Coume de Sencours starting with a small secret slope... all the way to the plateau.
We ski back up to the halfway point... of the North couloir of Taloulet! So we return on foot from the ascent in the couloir; the steps will be made all the way to the summit!
And this time, the couloir will not be the final climb: we ski back down to Maou Hourat.
Final ski climb to the finish at Taoulet!

A friendly atmosphere, a mix of skill levels, an exceptional playground: that's the winning recipe for the Coumes du Pic du Midi!
