So, immerse yourself in the mysterious world of bees, and regenerate yourself to the rhythm of their vibrations!

Off-piste: Ski down the Pic du Midi on freeride skis

An iconic peak in the Hautes-Pyrénées, at 2,877 meters, the Pic du Midi de Bigorre is considered one of the most beautiful sites in the world for freeride skiing.

Chalet La Source Cauterets Ski Free Ride Pic du Midi Grand AngleOn both sections of the cable car (departing from La Mongie station) and on different slopes of the Pic, numerous routes are possible. The elevation changes range from 500 meters to 1500 meters, and the gradient from 30 to over 50 degrees.

As the area is neither marked nor equipped, this activity cannot be undertaken without proper preparation. It is essential to be accompanied by an experienced mountain guide who is thoroughly familiar with the weather and snow conditions, the permitted limits and routes, and who can provide you with the necessary safety equipment.

A mastery of "all snow" techniques is required. The slopes are of black run level, and it will be necessary to be able to adapt to different snow conditions: often hard at the beginning of the run, softer afterwards.

With these basic precautions, this freeride descent of nearly 10 km from the Pic du Midi offering breathtaking panoramic views, will leave you with an unforgettable memory. After a great sharing of the experience in the evening at Chalet La Source, you'll only have one desire: to do it again!

“Drift” on a fatbike on snow

Chalet La Source Cauterets Luz Bike Fatbike on Snow DepartureHere's an original idea that will appeal to the whole family: Fat biking on snow! Discover this activity with Pierre, a state-certified mountain biking instructor.

Having grown rapidly in recent years, fat biking involves riding on trails with an all-terrain bike equipped with extra-wide tires.

In downhill mode on snow, this activity is as much about sliding as it is about mountain biking... on snow, you "drift"!

No need to force it: we take the chairlift up, and we descend on the groomed slopes.

Chalet La Source Cauterets Luz Bike Fatbike on Snow GroupAround Cauterets, two resorts allow the practice of fat biking on snow: Luz-Ardiden and Barèges Grand Tourmalet.

At Grand Tourmalet the activity takes place before or after the opening of the ski area; at Luz Ardiden it is possible to practice all day long, on separate slopes.

You don't need to be a champion either, you just need to be comfortable on a mountain bike. Pierre is there afterwards to teach you how to drift like a pro!
