Climb the icefalls

Whether it's a first approach to high-altitude mountaineering or a personal challenge, ice climbing fascinates many mountaineers.

Progressing with crampons and ice axe on living and ephemeral ice walls, in the magnificent setting of a rocky cirque, is a unique experience!

The Acumpanyat ice school  offers outings of one to several days, supervised by experienced high mountain guides, in the ice formations around Cauterets and Gavarnie.

The instructors teach safety techniques, how to move in a rope team and communicate effectively between partners.

Although accessible to all levels of mountaineering, ice climbing nevertheless requires  mastering basic rock climbing techniques and being in good physical condition.
